Repair Information.
This typewriter came in for repair and wasn’t working at all. The following items needed fixed:
- Carriage slipping, not locking in. The Escapement Gear assembly was frozen up
- Upon investigation, it appears that the typewriter had been dropped on the carriage which jammed the escapement.
- Variable Spacer all rusted shut down in the spring area.
- Paper Release rusted shut on right side. Wouldn’t turn.
- Bell not working. Right margin control floater prawl was frozen up.
- “G” key linkage was slipping out of the type bar.
- Ribbon advance not working. Found the arm on the advancement mechanism was bent so the top gear prawl wasn’t floating correctly. Also was rusted and not moving smoothly. Some of that can be seen in the pictures above.
