1957 Royal Quiet De Luxe – Teal

The 1957 Royal Quiet De Luxe typewriter in Teal Blue of the Royal Color series that came out after the original 3rd revision. This Royal has a nice, light, adjustable touch, and a well-designed, manually-setting tabulator.

It’s equipped with the patented Magic Margin found on so many Royal typewriters. This particular Quiet De Luxe features the Canterbury Pica 10 characters per inch typeface (font if you will) and is a crisp, clean type!

The Royal QDL  series is very plentiful in the U.S. and you can easily find a 1950s Royal QDL in thrift stores and antique stores and this color series is no exception.
Finding the 55’s Ankony Blue, Sunbeam Yellow, Flamingo Pink or Normandy Green can be a bit more of a challenge.  Earlier and later years are readily available in the grey and charcoal colors.

The 57 has the  One / Exclamation key, and the Plus / Equal key, which were added in late 1956 as well as additional colors of Red and Teal Blue. The Teal Blue is more prevalent in thrift and antique store and is an excellent find.
